Where is Assi Ghat and how to reach there?

It is in the southern region of the city and its huge size can accommodate a large number of people. Varanasi City is well-connected by all means of transport. Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport is the nearest airport to the city. AssiGhat is located at a distance of approximately 5-7 kilometers from the well-known Varanasi Junction Railway Station. One can take a rickshaw, auto, or taxi to reach the iconic Ghat of the city.

The city of Kashi itself is known to be very old. The history of the city is stunning and so is the AssiGhat. According to Hindu mythological stories, Goddess Durga killed the demon named ShumbhaNishumbha and threw her sword away. The landing of the sword caused the birth of the river called Assi and since then, the place is known to be AssiGhat. There are also beliefs that poet-saint Tulsidas spent his time here right before his death. However, the Ghat was constructed on a full-fledged scale back in the year 1988. Assi Ghat Varanasi has a huge Shiva Linga under a dense and old Peepal Tree. It has a landmark significance in the Hindu religion and a lot of pilgrims’ worship here every day.

The majority of the tourists visit this amazing ghat just to experience the Ganga Aarti which happens during both the day and evening hours. The time for morning Aarti is 5:00 am (during summers) and 5:30 am (during winters) while in the evening, it is approximately 7:00 pm.
